New World of Hyatt Business Credit Card

World of Hyatt Business Credit Card

Unlike some other major hotel programs, like Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt hasn’t offered a small-business credit card until now. According to Chase and Hyatt, the new World of Hyatt Business Credit Card has been in the works since 2019, and it’s been designed based on extensive consumer and small-business research.

World of Hyatt Business card welcome bonus

New World of Hyatt Business Credit Card cardholders can earn World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. In addition, if you apply by December 31, 2021, you’ll receive a complimentary one-year Headspace (a meditation app) subscription which normally costs $69.99 per year (Headspace subscription must be redeemed by December 31, 2022).

Hyatt points are worth, on average, 1.5 cents apiece based on Insider’s latest points and miles valuations – the highest of any hotel currency we evaluated. That means you can expect to get a value of around $1,125 in stays from 75,000 Hyatt points.

Hyatt’s award chart includes eight categories, ranging in price from 5,000 to 40,000 points per night. With this welcome bonus, you could get as many as 15 nights at a Category 1 Hyatt hotel (mostly brands like Hyatt House and Hyatt Place), or two nights with points left over at a luxury Category 7 property like some Park Hyatt and Andaz locations.

Earning points

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card has an unusual earning structure that rewards you based on where you spend the most. Cardholders earn 2x points in their top three eligible spending categories each quarter, from a list of eight possible categories:

DiningAirline tickets purchased directly with the airlineCar rental agenciesLocal transit and commutingGas stationsInternet, cable, and phone servicesSocial media and search engine advertisingShipping

However, after December 31, 2022, cardholders will earn 2x points in their top two eligible quarterly spending categories. There’s no limit to the number of bonus points you can earn with this feature.

In addition, the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card earns:

4 points per dollar at Hyatt hotels and resorts, including participating restaurants and spas (this is in addition to the 5x base points World of Hyatt members already earn)2 points per dollar on fitness club and gym memberships1 point per dollar on all other eligible purchases

The personal The World Of Hyatt Credit Card overlaps some of these earning categories, so if you’re not a small-business owner, it’s worth considering. Here’s our World of Hyatt credit card review for all the details.

Benefits and features

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card comes with an impressive range of perks, including Visa Signature benefits, Hyatt credits, and excellent travel and purchase protections.

Up to $100 in annual Hyatt credits

One benefit offered by the personal The World Of Hyatt Credit Card that isn’t available on the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card is an annual free night certificate – instead, cardholders receive up to $100 in Hyatt credit each year.

When you spend $50 or more at any Hyatt property with your World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, you’ll receive a $50 statement credit, up to twice per card anniversary year.

Automatic Discoverist elite status and gifting

World of Hyatt Business Credit Card cardholders receive automatic Discoverist elite status – the lowest tier of status in the World of Hyatt program. Usually, Discoverist status requires 10 tier-qualifying nights or earning 25,000 base points in a year.

With Discoverist status, you’ll get:

10% points bonus on paid stays2 p.m. late checkout (when available)Upgrades to preferred rooms (when available)Premium internet

Another unique aspect of the card is the ability to gift Discoverist status to up to five company employees – and the recipients do not have to be authorized users on your World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.

Elite qualifying nights for spending

For each $10,000 you spend on the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card in a calendar year, you’ll earn five tier-qualifying night credits. This is a helpful boost if you’re aiming for the next level of elite status, and even more so because Hyatt has reduced its elite qualification criteria in 2021 due to the pandemic.

For example, to earn Hyatt’s top-tier Globalist status, you’d normally need to stay 60 qualifying nights in a year, but that requirement has been reduced by half – to 30 nights – in 2021. By spending $60,000 on the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card before the end of the year, you could unlock Globalist status without ever setting foot in a Hyatt hotel.

Should you consider the new World of Hyatt business card?

Before you decide to open the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, you’ll want to assess whether you’ll get enough value from it to justify the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card annual fee.

If you know you’ll stay at Hyatt properties on paid rates at least twice a year, the up to $100 in Hyatt credits the card offers can effectively shave the annual fee in half. Beyond that, you’ll have to decide if other perks – like accelerated earning, Discoverist status, tier qualifying points, and a 10% rebate – are worth it to you.

Keep in mind that Hyatt is a Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partner, so if earning Hyatt points is your main objective, you might be better off with a card that earns transferable Ultimate Rewards points.

For example, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card currently offers Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening. You could transfer those points at a 1:1 ratio to Hyatt (or any of Chase’s other partners) – and the card has a broad range of bonus categories for earning points on everyday spending as well. The annual fee is also lower at just Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.

If you prefer a small-business card, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card is another good option, with a welcome bonus of Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card and a Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card annual fee.
