The Denver Broncos have lost starting inside linebacker Josey Jewell for the season after he suffered a pec injury during the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Reports surfaced Monday morning that Denver Broncos linebacker Josey Jewell suffered a significant pec injury during the team’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The MRI results confirmed that Jewell has a torn pectoral muscle and will likely be out for the remainder of the 2021 NFL season.

Jewell was well on his way to his best season a pro as he flashed some playmaking ability through the first two games. He finished with eight total tackles, two tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, and a pass defensed through two games. It’s unfortunate that of the seven total special teams snaps Jewell took he would suffer the injury that would take him out of the season.

This will put Broncos’ General Manager George Paton in an interesting position next offseason as Jewell was in the final year of his rookie contract. Jewell will be an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year in 2022.
