Seahawks not talking to Richard Sherman at this time

It is no secret that the Seattle Seahawks’ cornerback room drew the biggest concerns of any position group on the roster heading into the 2021 season after losing Shaquill Griffin to the Jacksonville Jaguars and failing to replace him with a proven reinforcement this offseason.

In Sunday’s loss to the Titans, those concerns were certainly warranted. Tennessee collected just shy of 350 passing yards on the afternoon, with Julio Jones responsible for 128 of them, picking apart Seattle’s corners for the majority of the game.

So, the question that has been on the mind of every Seahawks fan for months now still looms: will they ignite a reunion with the greatest corner in the history of the franchise, Richard Sherman?

When head coach Pete Carroll was asked about it on his Monday morning radio spot, it didn’t sound like much progress was being made.

Carroll, asked on @710ESPNSeattle if Seahawks are talking to Richard Sherman says „nothing right now.” Says Tre Brown should be ready to come off IR next week.

If the Seahawks don’t jump on bringing back the three-time All-Pro, it appears that other teams will, including the defending Super Bowl champions.

Bucs coach Bruce Arians confirmed that the Bucs have indeed reached out to Richard Sherman.

Multiple NFL teams have reached out in recent days to five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman, who has been undergoing therapy, is back to his old Seattle playing weight of 195 pounds and expects to be on the field at some point in 2021.

His other former team, the San Francisco 49ers, have been in contact as well.

Sherman played seven years in Seattle and accumulated four Pro Bowl appearances along with a 2013 Super Bowl ring. He played in just five games for the 49ers in 2020 due to injury, but in his last full season he earned a PFF season grade of 88.9 in 2019, ranking among the highest in the NFL for corners.

Sherman’s legal cases from July are still being reviewed by the NFL.
